We are lucky enough to have the wonderful Blackheart coming to the community centre on Friday 14th August at 7.30 pm. Blackheart are a male/female all-acoustic modern folk duo and have been touring professionally both in the UK and abroad now for six years.
Here’s more from the Blackheart duo themselves:
Last year we were proud to be awarded ‘Best British Duo’ in the 2014 UK Exposure Music Awards. Our show features all original songs, the voice of Chrissy Mostyn, plus acoustic guitars, mandolin, keyboards, omnichord, our collection of ancient synthesisers and a strong emphasis on harmony.
Blackheart’s music appeals to audiences of all ages. Our highly personal music has been described on BBC Radio as “Wonderfully inventive” and “Utterly magical” and “Beautiful and powerful” by Genesis’ Steve Hackett. When reviewing one of our shows The Western Star in Australia said “Blackheart take their audience from uplifting to heartbreaking in a single song.” The songs we write are inspired by real life and we delight in entertaining our audiences with the true stories behind the songs in our show.
We have three CDs nationally available, are played regularly on the radio and were even recently hailed by the BBC as “Taking the acoustic scene by storm!” and by Aled Jones on his show as being “A great band!”. Recent achievements include our new album ‘Songs From a Satellite’ which entered the charts at No.50 and then went on to win second place Album of the Year in the US Indie Music Awards and our single ‘Christmas Lights’ which got to No.52 in the 2013 UK Christmas chart and was heavily played on Radio 2. Our new single ‘Not Over Yet’ is currently being played on Radio 2.
