Upper Chapel Eisteddfod is often referred to as the best local Eisteddfod in Wales, and this was perhaps confirmed by the entries in this years’ event.
In the Open Champion Solo and Welsh Solo competitions there were well over 20 entries. The National Eisteddfod the following week had many winners who were also winners in Upper Chapel and it was great to see so many familiar faces on our TV screens! We could not run this Eisteddfod without the support of our community – so many of you are Vice Presidents and support us financially, within faithful audiences and as helpers on the day itself.
It now costs in the region of £3,500 – £4,000 which is an enormous amount for a tiny committee and scattered rural community to find.

Even setting up staging and moving pianos is a vital part of the day, but takes time and effort.
One thing we would like to improve is the number of childrens entries. Again, perhaps if you would like
your children to have a go, we would love to hear from you and offer help in any way. Once again, thank-you Merthyr Cynog and area community for making this Eisteddfod so special.
