EBENEZER CAROLS

For some years now Ebenezer Chapel has held its Carol Service in the Community Hall, which is much more convenient if the weather is unpleasant.    We like to think of it as a service that is for the community and that is shown in the excellent congregation we get each year.   The 21st December this year was no exception, with over 60 people attending, when the Hall becomes a place of worship, lit with candles and decorated with holly.   Revd Michael Hodgson welcomed everyone in his own inimitable style and we had several traditional readings and carols

We all look forward to the item by the children and this year they took part in a re-telling of the nativity through the alphabet, helped by several members of the congregation.   The children came forward with their letters – M for Mary, K for Kings, E for Egypt etc and had enormous fun showing everyone what they represented – including  G for God and J for Jesus!   They then joined in singing a carol for us.    Afterwards Father Christmas found his way to the Hall, leaving Rudolph and the other reindeer in Tymawr’s field having a good graze, he gave all the children there a present and wished everyone a very Happy Christmas before leaving for Lapland and a good sleep before his big night on Christmas Eve.

After the final carol we all enjoyed refreshments provided by the ladies of the Chapel and exchanged good wishes of the season to friends and relations and   everyone agreed it had been a wonderful start to the Christmas celebrations.
